How to Conquer Fear with Routines and Writing Daily

Life has been full of transitions lately, and as someone who craves control, it can be unsettling. But I’ve found a solution that works best for me: routines. They create structure and security, like guardrails for life.

Even with major changes happening over the past couple of months, I’ve realized that my constant thread is creating—whether it’s videos, podcasts, or social media posts, it all comes down to writing. Outlines, captions, interview questions, they all require processing, distilling and writing my thoughts.

Even though writing is key, I’ve been avoiding it.

Like the damn plague.

Sometimes the one thing you want to avoid is the one thing you actually where you need to focus the most energy.

The fear of creating in public is the number one thing I see holding back many of the clients I work with, which is why creating in public and doing it messy is the main focus of the Fierce Visionary Course.

Asking ourselves WHY and doing it anyway is the key to crushing that fear.

Writing in public has and will likely always be scary because it is the one creative medium that has clear rules and writing guidelines we’re supposed to follow which can open us up to criticism.

However, when you decide to do something messy, avoiding the rules, and just practice, who knows what can happen.

So that’s my plan for the next six weeks.

To throw out the rules of writing, show up everyday and write in public even when I don’t feel like it. Even when I’m scared. That’s the only way to conquer the fear. Acknowledging the fear, letting go of the idea of perfection and recognizing that a lack of routine only perpetuates that fear.

Writing in public allows me to practice and create content for my website, no matter how messy.

Progress is progress and the worst thing that can happen is that I get better at finding my voice and writing.

A win-win right?!

Avoidance is not the answer.

So in these next six weeks, my goal is to tackle my fear head-on and write 42 blog posts. It’s not just about metrics or praise, it’s about pushing through my avoidance and making writing a consistent output. A much better WHY to show up for, if you ask me.

Cheers to new goals, embracing uncertainty, and stepping out of our comfort zones.

Let’s do this!
