How to Start Your Nonprofit in 30 Days or Less

How do I start? Where do I start? What do I need? What is the actual process?

I waited two years to start my non-profit organization and I regret it. I wish I started it sooner!

As I was researching, however, I realized that the information out there was scarce. It seemed as though there were no in-depth resources for me to be able to figure these things out for myself!

It took a 30 minute pro bono call with a lawyer in New York to help me fill in the knowledge gaps that I had.

I asked questions, followed through with her advice, and later on received my non-profit status.

Afterwards, I was inspired to share with others through Youtube what I learned. When my “Start Your Own Non-Profit in 7 Steps” video reached 163k views, I knew there were more people out there who were in the same boat as I was.

And that’s what inspired me to create my Unleash Your Purpose course. For those of you who are in the discovery or starting phase of your non-profit journey, this course is for you.

Discovery phase: You have an idea that’s not completely formed yet and are unsure about where to start and how to take that first step

Starting phase: You’re completing the initial steps to get your non-profit running such as applying for your 501(c)3 status, reserving the name for your organization, and looking for a board of directors

Building phase: All initial legal requirements to start a nonprofit have been completed and now, you’re working to create the infrastructure for your nonprofit (hiring staff, recruiting volunteers, building systems so that your organization runs smoothly, and more)

Maintenance phase: You’re focused on unleashing your nonprofit to the world and are constantly refining your processes to best accomplish your mission and provide the greatest experience for your customers

My Unleash Your Purpose course is a 30 day course designed to walk you through every piece of the non-profit process from idea to filing.

And we’ll file together via a tutorial link!

My goal is to get you to the point where you have a board, are prepared to fundraise, have a sustainable plan moving forward, and are organized to actually start running your non-profit organization.

After the filing phase, you’ll be 501(c)3 eligible and can begin accepting donations. Just make sure that it’s clear that while you don’t have your 501(c)3 status yet, you’ve filed and are waiting to hear back!

Check out this video if you would like to see an in-depth sample of the course. It’s already been beta-tested and the feedback I’ve received from everyone is that it’s like having a personal tutor at a very cheap price!

And ultimately, that was my goal. I wanted to set it up as though it was a friend helping you through the process.
