Happiness Is Not A Goal.

Here's the thing, our generation has made workaholism look glamorous but the reality is that people are so focused on making money that they are forgetting to make memories and moments too!

In today's diary, I just wanted to share some truth about building a social impact business and becoming an entrepreneur.

I became an entrepreneur 17 years ago while simultaneously becoming a mom. During that time, I learned a lot of lessons about managing it all. Most of which come back to this one quote:

“Happiness is not a goal..it's a by-product of a life well lived”-Eleanor Roosevelt

You will not become happy because you make more money, you will not become happy because you have thousands of subscribers, donors or followers.

You WILL become happy when you find peace, balance and contentment from designing a life and business that you are satisfied with.

I thought today, I would show you what that looks like for me.

Wake up between 530 and 6am (most days) and complete a 3.5 mile walk with my husband.

Drink my coffee in silence and write in my journal or on the computer just downloading my thoughts (for some reason my brain is very active this early)

Make breakfast, empty the dishwasher, start a load of laundry, talk to the kids, get dressed for a workout.

8-9 work out either walking or lifting weights usually alternating between the two.

9-10 Make a smoothie, take my vitamins, shower, make up and get ready for the day

10 am- 330 work until the kids come home (lunches or meetings scheduled after 1230 to guarantee at least two hours or more of solid work)

4-1030 start dinner, family time and start again.

The schedule hasn't always been this clear cut but when you start focusing on the priorities in your life, happiness is sure to follow.

What would you say is a top priority in your life? I can guarantee work won't take the #1 slot.

I've been a workaholic before and although it sounds really cool to say how busy you are, make sure you stop to see what's suffering. Today, give yourself permission to make your personal happiness, personal health, and personal peace your top priorities, rather than your business.

Stay Fierce,

Ashlee
