10 Things No One Tells You About Entrepreneurship

10 Things No One Tells You About Entrepreneurship - Ashlee Tate

Entrepreneurship and being your own boss is the ultimate dream nowadays.

Right?

As an entrepreneur with many years of experience under my belt, I can say that while running your own business is great, it is definitely glamorized.

Entrepreneurship is not easy!

You have to work for it and you have to work hard.

Entrepreneurship is about giving it your all - blood, sweat, and tears!

As I reflect on my journey, I realize that there are SO many things that I wish someone would’ve told me before I dove headfirst.

In today’s video, I want to share just that: 10 things that no one tells you about entrepreneurship.

If you’re ready to unleash your something amazing, just know that you got this!

These 10 tips will surely help you as you begin your own journey.

Tip 1: Create boundaries

Creating boundaries, although tough, is necessary. It’s one of the most important skills out there, especially as an entrepreneur. By creating boundaries in your work life, with family and friends, and even with yourself and your time, you’re already setting yourself up for success.

Tip 2: Be selfish

We wear so many hats! So, being intentional with every ounce of your timing. Guarding your focus is a must. The work that you’re doing is important and remind yourself of that. Your business and yourself as the business owner should always be one of your top priorities. Yes, you’ll have to learn to say no to others, especially if what they want doesn’t align with your goals. It’s difficult to be a social entrepreneur if you aren’t a little selfish with your time, especially in the beginning stages.

Tip 3: Do a little everyday

Being in charge of a business can oftentimes be overwhelming since there’s just so much to do. Instead of focusing on everything all at once, chip away a little bit at a time! Personally, I start by writing out the goals I want to achieve. I’ll then plan out all the steps that need to be done to reach each goal. Lastly, I’ll break each goal up into weeks as well as what I need to do on a day to day basis. Everyday I try to move the needle forward, even if it's just a little bit.

Tip 4: Get used to being alone

No one will care about your business as much as you do. This is the reality. Over the years, I’ve learned how to work on my projects alone, despite being extremely social. I’ve also learned to trust my own instincts and that it’s not realistic to rely on those around me for input and advice regarding the everyday work that I do.

These are just a few of the tips I point out in today’s video.
